Team News: Comprent Begins Title Chase at Sebring

Gore, Searcy and Vito looking to give Georgia-based team a winning start to 2011 season

ATHENS, GA. (March 15, 2011) – Comprent Motorsports’ full-time return to the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Championship commences this week (March 17-18), with a talented multi-car line-up poised to challenge for top honors at Sebring International Raceway. As part of the famed Mobil 12 hours of Sebring event, Jonathan Gore, Ben Searcy and Tim Vito will all pilot L1 class Élan DP01 entries in Rounds One and Two at the historic central Florida road course.

As a former Prototype Lites champion, Comprent Motorsports enters the season-opening doubleheader at Sebring as one of the teams everyone will be keeping an eye on. The attention, as expected, is well justified, as the Georgia-based squad will have three quality drivers under its awning. Gore, who will pilot the No. 14 Comprent Motorsports entry in all 14 rounds this season, enters the 2011 kick-off event having previously visited the series podium four times via limited campaigns. Searcy, driving the No. 50 Combustion Technologies.Comprent Motorsports/ZSports Midwest car, which is being co-run by ZSports Midwest, makes his series debut as the 2009 F2000 Championship Series Rookie of the Year. Vito, getting behind the wheel of the No. 57 Second Harvest Foods/Comprent Motorsports car, meanwhile is a successful SCCA competitor. Given the trio will benefit from Comprent Motorsports vast experience and expertise in the prototype racing ranks, combined with a recent strong test outing, the stage is set for a winning start to the 2011 season.

“We are looking forward to the start of the 2011 race season at Sebring,” stated Comprent Motorsports owner Kevin Kloepfer. “Gore, Searcy and Vito have all looked good in testing, and with continued progress during the event, we should be able to leave the season-opener with a bunch of points and perhaps a win.”

The Comprent Motorsports L1 class cars will first roll on-course at Sebring International Raceway on Tuesday (March 15) via a pair of promoter’s test day sessions. An additional test session will be held on Wednesday morning (March 16), prior to the 2011 Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Championship officially getting underway via an afternoon practice run. Thursday (March 17) will feature the lone qualifying session in the morning, followed by Round One at 4:15 p.m. local time. Round Two of the season-opening doubleheader takes place on Friday (March 18) at 2:05 p.m. local time.
